As we were walking back across the mall to our car, we saw a tiny toddler girl running in the corridor beginning to cry. We stopped and I asked her if she was OK, and she said, "Can you help me find my mommy?" We stood there for a few minutes, to see if anyone walked by looking for her. Matthew was so sweet to her. Then he said, "Oh this is so sad. My heart is in anguish for her. This poor little girl! She must be so frightened." When we didn't see anyone, I decided to walk to the security desk. I asked her if she wanted me to carry her, and she reached up her arms. What if the wrong person had been there? It scares me to think about it.
As we were quickly walking, Matthew was behind me, still saying how his heart was in anguish for this girl and for her mother. Saying, he just can't imagine how anyone could lose someone so tiny and helpless (and cute, LOL). Then I heard, "Dear God, please help this little girl and her mother get safely reunited. Amen" When we got the security desk, an officer took the girl to go find her mom. We ended passing him not long after and commented that he'd found her mom and what a relief that was. As we walked out, Matthew said, God said yes to my prayer! The girl and her mother are back together. I'm soooo glad.
That night at dinner, we played 'hi/lo' where we each shared out high and low for the day. When it was Matthew's turn, he said his high and low were kind of the same. When I asked what they were, guess what he said: the little girl at the mall. The low was finding her 'lost' and the high was knowing she was reunited with her mom. Amazing.
