We were excited to have Jimmie and Richard join us at the beach for a few days. They've had a really rough go of things lately, and we thought this would be a fun trip for them, especially since they had to postpone their May trip to Colorado because of Richard's back trouble and unexpected surgery.
On their way, they stopped at our house and brought a few things we'd left. :-) One - the air mattress pump - has been highly anticipated by Maddie. The owner of our condo has a rubber raft/boat, and she's been dying to get it inflated. Today was the day!! She, Jeff and Matthew were going to row out to the buoy, but she bailed pretty quickly. Matthew has been wanting to go out to the buoy since day one, so even the dark clouds (off shore AND moving AWAY more to the sea) didn't dampen his excitement. They had a great time, and the rest of us enjoyed the water for a bit. As we sat relaxing on the shore before that (watching the weather move off in the opposite direction), we saw a good number of dolphins and even a couple manatees!! It was so exciting! We even saw a bird of some sort (not a pelican) fly off with a decent sized FISH in his claws! Crazy!
The rest of the day ended up being really rainy (but not stormy), so we spent some time on the porch and then we played some games. MaMa and PaPa enjoyed learning how to play Chips, and while we were getting ready to go outside, I heard Matthew and Maddie playing Spot It, and Matthew was doing really well! He even won the game this time! Go, Matthew!
We decided to eat an early dinner, so we showered up and hit the road. We shopped a little at Target and then took MaMa and PaPa to eat at Coconut Jacks. I don't know if we were more excited about showing them the food or the fish! Both were great. :-)
When we got back and were relaxing in the family room, Matthew asked if we thought a crossword would be good with the 'power of six' - he wanted us to all do a crossword together. :-) It was fun! After that we dove into a cut throat game of Phase 10. Jimmie and I pulled off to a quick lead, but when we stopped for the night, Richard had pulled ahead, and I'm BEHIND Jimmie and Maddie. Matthew and Jeff are on the same phase together, right behind me. Until tomorrow.....
