Welcome!!

Hi! We are the Plunks: Jennifer, Jeff, Matthew and Maddie! Welcome to our blog. I started this blog to chronicle our service dog adventure, but it has evolved into a place for me to jot down my thoughts... about autism, parenting, family, working, but mostly about celebrating life and the God who gifted us with it. Enjoy the ride!

Disney Days with Gram!!!

At last... the trip we planned two years ago and had to post-pone because of Mom's R.A. finally became a reality!  We left home Friday after Jeff got out of school, and hit the parks yesterday morning.  We spent yesterday at Magic Kingdom and today at Epcot.  What a MAGICAL two days we've had!  This is mom's first trip to Disney, and so far it's exceeding her expectations!  I will say that having Matthew's 'guest assistance pass' certainly enhances the experience.  :-)

We started out the Magic Kingdom in Fantasy Land, and we got to enjoy some of the NEW Fantasy Land that has opened (some parts won't be finished until 2014).  We rode Peter Pan, saw Mickey's Philharmagic (LOVE that), It's a Small World, Pirates of the Caribbean and Winnie the Pooh.  Then we headed to Frontier Land, which is our favorite part.  We took Gram on Splash Mountain and tried Big Thunder Mountain, but it was closed temporarily.  So what were we to do but head over to Tomorrow Land and ride Space Mountain??  We hit a few detours on the way, like the Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor (which was just as funny as I remember it being -- plus some).  It's really fun the way they target and use the audience... Here's one of the stand-up comedy jokes from today:

Marty Wazowski:  "What do you get when you cross a human and a lampshade?"
Answer:  (a picture appeared on the big screen, and -- drumroll ---)

I laughed until I thought I would wet my pants.  It was SOOOOO funny!  It was even funnier because Mom had just dozed off, and she didn't even know she was up on the screen until she heard me scream with laughter - then she opened her eyes to see what was so funny -- and to her surprise and HORROR, it was HER!!!  Even as type, tears of laughter are filling my eyes.  It's just as funny tonight as it was yesterday.

After that excitement, we made our way to Space Mountain.  The kids were a little nervous, but they ended up both LOVING it.  It is SUCH an awesome ride!  We rode it again later in the day and loved it even more!  We also finally got to ride Big Thunder Mountain (twice), and it's still a favorite.

We ended the day with the Electric Light Parade, but then we scooted out before the fire works.  There was an hour to kill between the two, and we decided we'd catch the fireworks the next night we're at Magic Kingdom.

Today we went to Epcot, which is our family's favorite park.  We headed straight for Soarin' - we've been waiting for two years to take Gram on this ride (and trying not to spoil it in the mean time).  Both kids were bursting at the seams this morning, and it was worth the wait.  Gram LOVED Soarin' as much as we do!  What an incredible ride!  The rest of the day was filled with Test Track (also awesome), Living with the Land, The Energy something or other and then touring around the countries.  We ate in Mexico and had a DELICIOUS lunch.  Jeff has done such an awesome job planning this trip and making our dining reservations.  Yesterday we ate at Tony's (from Lady and the Tramp) and had amazing Italian fare.  YUM.  Evening snacks while waiting for the night shows are always a hit, too... last night it was funnel cake and tonight it was ice cream.  My shorts may not fit in a day or two.  Tonight's show was cut short for us - a nice little thunder storm with a light show of it's own rolled in, so we rolled out.  We'll catch the show one of the other nights we're at Epcot... there are two more of them!

Well, it's time to hit the sack.  Another fun day is in store for tomorrow.  We're headed to Animal Kingdom.  Here are some pictures from the first two days of fun...
