The best birthday party EVER... even if was 5 months late!

Maddie turned 10 on December 4, and since this was such a 'big' birthday - double digits after all - we gave her a choice: a sleepover OR a combined party with one of her best friends at an indoor pool sometime mid-winter. She eagerly chose the pool party, but due to family situations, it couldn't happen until May... but Maddie didn't seem to mind at all! When the time came, we invited all of the 4th grade girls and had a BLAST at Bethesda Aquatic Center. Complete with a pool themed cake, water squirter party favors, and the coolest pool ever! May 4 - exactly five months after her birthday - Ally and Maddie celebrated turning 10 together. Instead of gifts, we asked everyone to bring canned goods for the Norcross Food coop, and we ended up collected 94 food items that the girls delivered to NFC. Of course they each got a few gift cards as well, and Maddie is chomping at the bit to go shopping... Justice here we come. I can hardly wait. ;-) Maddie told me on the way home that THAT was the best birthday party EVER... and I have to agree, it was pretty awesome! Thanks, Nancy, for the idea!! Sharing it is the only way to go.
