Ahhhh... another long, relaxing day on the island. Today started out early... we all woke up around 6:30 with the rising sun. It's worth it, though... it gives us a long full day. We started out with a morning swim and breakfast on the patio. We strayed from our usual cereal fare to toast! What a treat! After breakfast and getting lathered in sunscreen, we headed on an adventure to Chocolate Hole. We can't find our favorite book lying around anywhere this time (Feet, Fins and Fourwheel Drives), so we're working of memory and a map. We may end up buying it on my kindle... we'll see. It would've been useful today, because as it turns out, Chocolate Hole is a general area, not a BEACH, so while we explored a new part of the island and had an incredibly beautiful drive, we did not discover a new beach. We ended up circling back and landing at Hawksnest Beach, one of our favorite snorkeling spots from last year. We grabbed a shady spot on the beach and then hit the water. The snorkeling didn't disappoint... the reef there is full of beautiful corals - elkhorn was the standout today. We saw lots of cool, colorful fish, including several parrot fish and one HUGE fish. Maddie and I even saw a small squid on our way back in! After our last trip to St. John, we said that if we ever went back, we wanted to buy a digital underwater camera - and I'm so glad we did!!! After leaving Hawksnest, we donned our dinner attire (ie, clean flipflops and nicer coverups) and headed into Cruz Bay. We enjoyed shrimp and shark bites at Woody's, and while we waited on our food, Jeff and I taught M & M how to play the game "thumper" - it was so fun! After dinner, we grabbed some milkshakes at a local icecream shop (YUM!! Maddie had her first rootbeer float) and walked back to the car. On our way, we saw 4 iguanas!!! Very, very cool. We ended the night with a game of Yatzee followed by "National Treasure."
