Welcome!!

My photo
Hi! We are the Plunks: Jennifer, Jeff, Matthew and Maddie! Welcome to our blog. I started this blog to chronicle our service dog adventure, but it has evolved into a place for me to jot down my thoughts... about autism, parenting, family, working, but mostly about celebrating life and the God who gifted us with it. Enjoy the ride!

First Full Day in Paradise... St. John Day 1 (June 26)

Matthew & Maddie snorkeling at Trunk Bay
What a day... it seems like we picked up right where we left off two years ago:  Jeff driving on the left side of the road while I white-knuckle my door...  trying to figure out exactly WHAT the song "Muskrat Love" is about... and looking for what animal we might see next in the road.  :-)

We slept in the main house last night, woke up bright and early with the sun (around 6:30) and by 9:00 we'd had breakfast, dressed, sorted through the snorkeling gear, packed our bags for the day and had a swim in the pool!  Around 9:30, we headed out to one of our favorite beaches:  Trunk Bay.  We thought that would be a good way to refresh our snorkeling skills, since they have a marked snorkeling trail there.  It was awesome!  We found shade at the far end of the beach, so we had quite a swim along the shore just to get to the start of the trail - we saw some cool fish along the way, and on the way back to our beach spot, Maddie and I swam over a ray!  On the actual trail, we saw beautiful corals and lots of fish - our favorite of which was the parrot fish!  :-)  Hopefully the pictures will do the beauty some justice.  The camera battery died right as I was zooming in on the parrot fish, so I missed some great shots, including Maddie's anniversary present to us!  (She's going to re-make it tomorrow so I can capture it, LOL).   Today is mine and Jeff's 19th anniversary!!!   Wow... it's crazy how fast time flies!

Around 2:30 we left the beach and headed into to Cruz Bay to do a little shopping and get some dinner.  We found me a nice St. John hat, but struck out on the book we were looking for.  We tried a new place for dinner - Sun Dog Cafe - and it was AWESOME!  We'll eat there again for sure.  They had delicious fresh fruit and a refreshing cucumber salad that all of us enjoyed!

We capped off the night with a movie and ice-cream... we watched "The Deathly Hallows, Part 1"... only one more movie to finish off our marathon and be ready for Universal in a few weeks.

We all enjoyed God's beautiful creation today and are so thankful to be back!!!  Check again later and there will be a slide show with more pictures from the day.  :-)
